Walmart Live On ChatGPT Instant Checkout/ACP Walk Through
Here’s a search for a bully stick (dog treat) that shows us that Walmart has ‘Buy’ enabled as of 11/30 11pm EDT:
Step 1: Terms
When you click ‘Buy’ you are taken to a first screen:
Note the clear Walmart branding and the only option is ‘Pay with card’ -underneath is quite a lengthy set of terms compared to other Instant Checkout implementations.
Step 2: Add Credit Card
Pretty standard enter your CC details.
Step 3: Confirmation Screen
Again, pretty standard (Shopping is below the Walmart free-ship threshold, but that’s standard.
Step 4: Verification (new)
This is new - they have implemented a new TFA to verify your identity. What’s also unusual is the credit card screen already popped up a phone number, so it’s asking for it twice.
When the code is texted it says “ChatGPT” - interesting!
Step 5: Confirmation
What’s Not Working
Right now, products with variants aren’t working right. For example, this sweater:
Notice it says Sizes S-3XL, yet where are the variations, they aren’t on the offer screen and they aren’t here.
Going through the checkout, there’s no variation picking at all. This indicates this implementation is very much a work-in-progress with some rough edges still poking out.
What’s Not Available Yet
When Walmart announced their partnership with ChatGPT, they mentioned that Sam’s Club was part of the mix and that "Walmart+ members will get their benefits when making a purchase”.
Variants - As mentioned above, variations are not live or selectable that I’ve seen.
Sam’s Club - It doesn’t look like Sam’s is available yet
Walmart+ - Walmart’s answer to Prime is Walmart+ that gives you free shipping and a variety of other benefits. My initial testing is that my Walmart+ account is not linked (see shipping fees). I have double check some things, this could be something around my phone number/address/email not being 100% the same across my ChatGPT and Walmart+ accounts.
