FLASH: ChatGPT Close to Launching ChatGPT Checkout... (Buy on ChatGPT?)
Version of desktop app rolling out has an 'orders' area in settings....
Several users have reported that a version of the ChatGPT Mac app that started a roll-out this week now includes an order ‘flow’. When you’re about to release a checkout capability, one of the obvious features you need to have is a place for customers to track and keep their current and past orders.
Note I have not been able to recreate these myself, but this does appear to be authentic as best I can tell. Here’s a brief walk-through of what they are seeing…
Step 1: Settings / Orders (third item down!)
To get to the Orders area, it’s in Settings which is in the bottom left by your user name:
Step 2: Order List
When you click on orders→
Sadly, there won’t be orders here until the whole feature launches. I’m going to be looking for:
Is this initially for digital goods, physical goods or both?
If physical, will v1 be sophisticated enough for concepts like buy-online-pickup-in-store (BOPIS)? How about tracking, returns/return policy, contact the seller, etc.?

What’s Next?
I’m writing this at the airport on my way back from RetailClub which was a 2 day intensive immersion in all things GenAI and Agentic Commerce. I’ve been predicting we are going to see the ChatGPT checkout in the 9/1-10/30 timeframe. I’m now thinking there’s a 80% chance we see it before 10/1.
I also think we’re going to see several more interesting announcements from the other six players: Microsoft Copilot, Perplexity, Google Gemini/AI Mode, Claude, Grok and Meta.
We’ll be on top of the news and keep you posted as things drop with our retail/ecommerce focused analysis.
Buckle up, it’s going to be a fun 45 days!
