I am a little underwhelmed by the lack of Anthropic's commitment to the bit. I mean... how could you not have Rubber Bands, Rocket Roller Skates and the legendary Instant Hole as part of the catalog in this example. #commitment

Agree! Here's how I imagine this played out:

o Zillenial Deployed AI Engineer - "Claude what's a good name for a demo store".

o Claude - "blah blah coyote, bugs bunny, blah blah ACME".

o ZDAI - name=ACME

Great flash. The seller side is the part I keep chewing on. I run a one-product Amazon and Shopify brand, and Claude already does the back office: reports, listing checks, the daily numbers. The merchant agent blueprint reads like the front of house catching up. What I cannot see yet is whether a small brand plugs in directly or waits for Shopify to wrap it. How do you see it landing for stores under $1M?

The integration question has a published answer on the other protocol, worth putting next to this. OpenAI's Delegated Payment Spec states that direct integration is open only to payment service providers or PCI DSS Level 1 merchants using their own vaults, with Stripe's Shared Payment Token named as the first compatible implementation and more PSPs listed as coming.

Instant Checkout in ChatGPT is limited to approved partners.

For a brand without a Level 1 programme, the near-term move is a timeline question for the existing PSP rather than a build. Chargeback treatment for agent-initiated orders is not set out in that spec.

Open-sourcing these reference implementations is a massive move. By offering zero-license-fee consumer and merchant agents, Anthropic is going to put serious pressure on traditional SaaS marketplaces and retail-search platforms.
