The offer card dynamics you're describing track closely with what we see in Merchant Center Next on the Shopping side — accounts that fix GTIN mismatches and shipping/return inconsistencies recover position noticeably faster than those optimizing price alone, which lines up with your point that price isn't the dominant trust signal. The canonicalization problem is the part most retailers still underestimate: if the feed doesn't map cleanly to a single product card, you're invisible before ranking even becomes a question. Curious whether the study broke out category-level variance — we see much worse canonicalization failure rates in fashion and home goods than in electronics, where GTINs are cleaner.

it did look at some items across categories but we didn't do that - I know from channeladvisor you are definitely right - fashion, shoes, sporting goods, home goods are a hot mess, electronics a bit cleaner
