Bryan House is the CEO of Elastic Path, the composable commerce platform for complex B2B and enterprise commerce. He joined Elastic Path in 2020 to run product and became CEO in 2024.

𝟭𝟬,𝟬𝟬𝟬 𝘃𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀: where typical platforms cap out at 250 variations per item, Elastic Path supports 10,000, plus bundles of up to 1,500 items.
𝗦𝗶𝘅 𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗸𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝟭𝟬𝟬 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗱: Bryan's prediction… AI takes re-platforming from a 6-month-to-2-year, $500K–$3M digital transformation down to a setup fee. "That's the place we're gonna see the biggest impact of AI in commerce."
𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝟴𝟬-𝗽𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗣𝗗𝗙: in a world of AI discovery, every product needs the equivalent of an 80-page PDF of data to train the LLM on when to recommend it. (Scot's line, which Bryan says he "steals with credit" as often as he can.)

Cheaper migration changes the negotiating position of a small retailer more than it changes the build cost. Regulation (EU) 2018/1807, Article 6 tasks the Commission with facilitating self-regulatory codes of conduct on switching providers and porting data in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format, and it asks vendors to state before signing the processes, technical requirements, timeframes and charges that apply when a professional user wants to leave. Those codes are voluntary, which is my objection to the article. A small merchant comparing platforms can still request those four items in writing and treat a refusal as the answer.
